Section 61: Powers of the District Land Board in Uganda

61.Powers of board

(1)In the performance of its functions, a board shall be independent | F the Uganda Land Commission and shall not be subject to the direction or control of any person or authority but shall take into account the national and district council policy on land and the particular circumstances of different systems of customary land tenure within the district.

(2)A board shall have power toβ€”

(a)acquire, by purchase or otherwise, rights or interests in land and easements;

(b)erect, alter, enlarge, improve or demolish any building or other erection on any land held by it;

(c)sell, lease or otherwise deal with the land held by it; and

(d)do and perform all such other acts, matters and things as may be necessary for or incidental to the exercise of those powers and the performance of those functions.

(3)In the performance of its functions, a board shall prepare and publish an annual report and shall have regard to any comments that the district council may make on that annual report.
