Judges who were already in office as Supreme Court justices or High Court judges when the new Constitution took effect kept their jobs automatically. They are treated as if they were appointed under this Constitution. They are also considered to have already taken the required oaths of allegiance and the judicial oath. This ensures the courts continue working without disruption or need for new appointments.

<del>A justice of the Supreme Court or a judge of the High Court holding office immediately before the coming into force of this Constitution shall continue to hold office as if appointed to that office under this Constitution.</del>

<del>Any person to whom this article applies shall, on the coming into force of this Constitution, be deemed to have taken and subscribed the oath of allegiance and the judicial oath as prescribed by this Constitution or any other law.</del>
