(1)A police officer may use a firearm against'
(a)a person charged with or convicted of a felony who escapes from lawful custody;
(b)a person who, through force, rescues another person from lawful custody; or
(c)a person who, through force, prevents the lawful arrest of himself or herself or of any other person.
(2)A person who attempts to do an act referred to in subsection (1) shall be taken to have committed that act.

(c)the police officer has reasonable grounds to believe that he or she or any other person is in danger of grievous bodily harm if he or she does not resort to the use of arms, but only such force as is reasonable in the circumstances may be used.
