The government must make decisions based on what is best for the whole country and the common good of all Ugandans. This means laws and policies should aim to benefit everyone, not just a few. Parliament is responsible for passing specific laws to put this principle into practice. As a citizen, you can expect that government actions will be measured against the national interest and common good.

Uganda shall be governed based on principles of national interest and common good enshrined in the national objectives and directive principles of state policy.

Parliament shall make relevant laws for purposes of giving full effect to <span class="underline-gradient ref" data-tippy-content data-ref="8A:1">clause (1)</span> of this Article.
