Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, for the purposes of local government, Uganda shall be divided into the districts referred to in <span class="underline-gradient ref" data-tippy-content data-ref="5:2">Article 5(2)</span> of this Constitution.

The districts referred to in <span class="underline-gradient ref" data-tippy-content data-ref="177:1">clause (1)</span> of this Article shall be taken to have been divided into the lower local government units which existed immediately before the coming into force of this Constitution.

Article 177 defines Uganda’s districts for local government and affirms their division into lower administrative units as previously established.

Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, for the purposes of local government, Uganda shall be divided into the districts referred to in Article 5(2) of this Constitution.
