The High Court can hear almost any type of legal case, whether civil or criminal, unless the Constitution says otherwise. If a lower court has already made a decision, you generally have the right to appeal that decision to the High Court. This means the High Court acts as the main court for serious matters and also reviews decisions from magistrates and other lower courts. The government cannot block you from bringing your case to the High Court if it has the power to hear it. You are protected because the High Court can correct mistakes made by lower courts, ensuring fair treatment under the law.

The High Court shall, subject to the provisions of this Constitution, have unlimited original jurisdiction in all matters and such appellate and other jurisdiction as may be conferred on it by this Constitution or other law.

Subject to the provisions of this Constitution and any other law, the decisions of any court lower than the High Court shall be appealable to the High Court.
