The government has a Deputy Attorney General who is a minister appointed by the President with Parliament's approval. To be qualified for this job, a person must have worked as a lawyer for at least seven years or have gained the same level of experience. The Deputy Attorney General assists and stands in for the Attorney General when needed.

There shall be a Deputy Attorney General who shall be a Minister appointed by the President under <span class="underline-gradient ref" data-tippy-content data-ref="114">Article 114</span> with the approval of Parliament.

A person shall not be qualified to be appointed Deputy Attorney General unless he or she is qualified to practise as an advocate of the High Court and has so practised or gained the necessary experience for not less than seven years.

The Deputy Attorney General shall deputise for the Attorney General.

Article 119A: Who is the Deputy Attorney General?
